Small Engine Mechanic

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine Mechanic to join our landscaping team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a variety of small engines, including lawnmowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, snowblowers and other landscaping equipment. You will ensure that all equipment is in good working order to help maintain efficiency and safety for our field teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair small engine-powered equipment such as lawnmowers, snow blowers, and trimmers.

  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and blade sharpening.

  • Troubleshoot engine problems using diagnostic tools and provide repair solutions.

  • Maintain an organized and safe workspace in the equipment maintenance area.

  • Keep detailed records of services and repairs for each piece of equipment.

  • Order and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies needed for equipment repairs.

  • Collaborate with the field team to ensure timely repairs and minimal equipment downtime.

  • Perform pre-season and post-season equipment checks and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a small engine mechanic or relevant mechanical role.

  • Strong diagnostic skills for small engines, including 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines.

  • Familiarity with lawn and landscaping equipment repairs (lawnmowers, snowblowers, trimmers, etc.).

  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment when necessary.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Plant Specialist / Garden Designer

Position Overview:

George Cardenas Landscape is looking for a Plant Specialist/Garden Designer to join our team. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for plants, a strong eye for landscape aesthetics, and the ability to bring creative outdoor designs to life. While a formal design degree isn’t required, we are looking for someone who understands plant selection, placement, and overall garden composition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and recommend plants, trees, and shrubs suitable for different landscapes.

  • Work with clients and our team to develop creative and functional planting designs.

  • Assist with plant sourcing, ensuring quality and availability.

  • Provide guidance on plant care, seasonal changes, and long-term landscape health.

  • Collaborate with our installation team to bring designs to life.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of plant identification, care, and landscape aesthetics.

  • Experience in landscape design, horticulture, or nursery work preferred.

  • Ability to visualize and communicate design ideas to clients and team members.

  • Passion for outdoor spaces and creating beautiful, functional landscapes.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
